Eros#3 - New Portraits
Purple is the Color of Pain

Writing with light, reading between the lines and looking at the absurd to understand reality.

Continuing with the project that includes the book Prometheus, this new series of color and b&w portraits focuses on the relationships between sex and power.

In no other time in history has sexuality gained so many headlines. The association with power , brings to mind one aspect of seduction, which according to Jean Baudrillard, " We should be excited and comforted by the fact that the most remarkable system of meaning and interpretation ever erected is collapsing under the weight and play of its owns signs, signs that have become the disguises of unrestrained seduction, of unrestrained terms, once full of meaning, in an exchange that is complicit and devoid of meaning (even in Therapy). This is a sign that at least, we will be spared the truth (and a reason why only impostors rule)...." . It is funny and scary how this thought seems prophetic.

The idea is to reveal the connections between sex & power, to look at how power houses took of hold our sexuality and use sex for their own benefit. An original example can be seen in Catholic Churches, where homoerotic images are still used to generate desire and than render guilt and shame to believers. The promisse of absolution and with that ticket to Paradise, is given for those that give their souls (and moneys) to the church. It is an alienating process, that inhibits people from accepting themselves as human beings, once our sexuality is repressed and made impure. Advertising got that concept early on and sex is used to sell everything from cigarets to college degrees, but self understanding, acceptance or love. People living in a limbo, remaining unaware of who we are since we are guided to avoid talking about our desires, our feelings or ourselves. We can't develop into full fledge human beings and remain forever treated as children , without power to change our destiny.
